Antique Silver Horseshoe & Star Buckle

At the center of the red leather band sits a buckle cast in solid antique silver and shaped as a horseshoe — its U-form wide and proud, its arms curving downward to two squared nail heads. The surface of the horseshoe is engraved with delicate scrollwork and floral patterns, the dark patina filling every curve and crevice to give the engraving depth and dimension. Three nail holes are drilled into each arm — six in total — their dark interiors echoing the real nail holes of a horseshoe nailed to a hoof. At the very center of the horseshoe, a raised five-pointed star stands sharp and bright, its points reaching toward the inner curve of the U. The star is three-dimensional, its facets catching the light and casting small shadows, giving it a sculptural quality. The entire buckle is finished with an antique silver patina — warm, lived-in, and slightly darkened in the recesses — that gives it the feel of a piece passed down through generations of riders and fighters.

Red Piping Along the Cattleman Crease

The defining detail of The Matador is the thin line of deep red piping that runs along the inner curve of the cattleman crease. The crease itself is a classic three-ridge cattleman shape — a high center ridge flanked by two lower side ridges — creating the iconic cowboy hat silhouette. But where most hats leave the crease plain, The Matador inlays a braided red cord into the very fold of the felt, so that the red follows every curve, every ridge, every valley of the crease. The piping is made from a tightly braided cord in a deep, saturated red — the color of a matador's cape, of a rose in full bloom, of a warning sign on a desert highway. Its braided texture catches the light, giving the red a subtle shimmer that shifts as the hat moves.
