The Sundance begins as a single weave of natural straw — each fiber hand-selected and interlaced in a tight, breathable pattern that catches the light like sun on dry grass. The natural golden tone is the color of the straw itself, not a dye applied after the fact.

Around the base of the crown, a handwoven band carries the geometric language of the Navajo — crosses and diamonds and stepped patterns in ochre, rust, and deep brown. Beneath it, a braided leather cord is strung with turquoise and coral beads, separated by antique brass spacers, and centered with a large turquoise cabochon set in an engraved brass bezel. A single natural feather completes the silhouette.

Each color is woven from naturally dyed yarn, and the pattern repeats with the rhythmic precision of a textile handed down through generations.
