The Drifter begins as a single sheet of densely compacted sand-colored wool felt — each fiber pressed through heat and moisture until the material becomes dense, water-resistant, and quietly resilient. The warm sand tone is saturated through the full thickness of the felt, not merely dyed onto the surface.

The cattleman crease is formed by hand, not by machine. A gentle pinch at the front, a slow curve along the sides — the kind of shape that requires years of craftsmanship to perfect. Around the base of the crown, a striped web band in dark brown and sand evokes the luggage straps and railway upholstery of a bygone era.
