Spotted Marble Wool Felt

The crown and brim are crafted from premium wool felt that has been marbled with deep charcoal spots across a pale silver-gray ground, creating a pattern that recalls the distinctive spotted coat of the Appaloosa horse. The spots vary in size and density — some large and soft-edged, others small and sharp — distributed organically across the surface. The felt itself is dense and resilient, with a soft, slightly fuzzy nap that catches the light and deepens the contrast between the pale ground and the dark spots. Every hat's pattern is unique.

Southwestern Diamond Woven Band

A handwoven band wraps the base of the crown, carrying a repeating diamond pattern in cream and pale tan against a deep chocolate brown ground. The diamonds are woven in a stepped, layered technique that gives each one a subtle three-dimensional quality, with the cream threads catching the light against the dark brown background. Rows of tiny white saddle stitches frame the pattern above and below, adding a crisp border and reinforcing the band's structure. The weaving is tight and even, a testament to the artisan's hand.

Antique Brass Horseshoe Buckle

The band is secured by a buckle cast in solid brass and shaped as a horseshoe — its U-form and the six nail holes along its arms echoing the real iron shoes that are nailed to a horse's hooves. The brass is deliberately aged to an antique patina, with subtle variations in tone and a warm, lived-in glow that deepens with wear. The buckle's pin passes through the woven band, and the horseshoe shape frames a cream diamond behind it, creating a layered Western motif. A small but meaningful detail — the horseshoe, turned upward, is said to hold the luck.

SCENE I

The Brush & the Mane

A wooden-handled hat brush with its brass ferrule and natural bristles, a lock of dark horse hair resting on the spotted felt — the Appaloosa beside the tools that keep both horse and hat clean and ready. The spotted wool felt catches the warm light, each dark spot a small echo of the dappled coat of a horse standing in the shade of a barn.

SCENE II

The Reins & the Ride

A braided rein in brown and cream, its brass snap and leather keepers resting on the hat brim — the Appaloosa beside the lines that connect rider to horse. The woven diamond pattern on the hat band echoes the braid of the rein, two traditions of textile craft side by side, both made to be held and used and worn soft with miles.

SCENE III

The Shoe & the Nail

A worn iron horseshoe and a scatter of square-headed horseshoe nails resting on dark leather, beside the hat's own brass horseshoe buckle — the Appaloosa between the shoe that protects a horse's hooves and the shoe that adorns a rider's hat. The dark iron and warm brass echo each other, two metals shaped by the same farrier's fire, both carrying the luck of the horseshoe turned up to hold it.
