The Maverick begins as a single hide of full-grain leather, selected for its depth of character and natural grain. Each hide is hand-distressed — rubbed, burnished, and aged until the surface carries the warm patina of leather that has already lived a life on the trail. The rich dark brown tone varies across the surface, lighter where the leather has been worn and darker in the creases.

Around the base of the crown, a hand-tooled pattern tells the story of the American West — saguaro cacti standing tall between upright horseshoes, each horseshoe adorned with tiny diamonds and stars, all framed beneath a scalloped border. The pattern is tooled deep into the leather, its dark recesses contrasting with the lighter raised surfaces. A leather band studded with domed antique brass rivets and a simple brass buckle completes the silhouette, while a braided leather edge trims the brim.

Hand-Tooled Cactus & Horseshoe Pattern

Each crown is hand-tooled by a leather artisan with a repeating Western motif — saguaro cacti standing between upright horseshoes, each horseshoe adorned with tiny diamonds and four-point stars, all framed beneath a scalloped wave border. The pattern is tooled deep into the full-grain leather, its dark recesses contrasting with the lighter burnished raised surfaces. Every tool mark is made by hand, making each hat subtly unique.

Brass-Studded Leather Band & Buckle

A band of the same distressed full-grain leather wraps the base of the crown, stitched with warm tan waxed thread and set with domed antique brass rivets at regular intervals. A simple rectangular brass buckle — aged to a warm patina — secures the band, with adjustment holes punched through the leather. The brass hardware develops a deeper patina with wear, matching the leather's own journey from new to lived-in.

Braided Leather Brim Edge

The entire perimeter of the brim is finished with a hand-braided leather edge — six strands of the same distressed full-grain leather woven into a tight, rounded braid that gives the brim structure and a distinctive Western character. A line of tan saddle stitching runs parallel to the braid, securing it to the brim with precise, even stitches. The braided edge will soften and darken with wear, becoming more personal with every mile.

Premium Full-Grain Distressed Leather

Each hat is cut from a single hide of premium full-grain leather, selected for its natural grain, depth of character, and structural integrity. The leather is hand-distressed through a multi-stage process of rubbing, burnishing, and aging, creating a warm patina that varies across the surface — lighter where the leather has been worn, darker in the creases and tooled recesses. Full-grain leather develops a richer patina with every wear, becoming uniquely yours over time.

Hand-Tooled Western Pattern

The cactus and horseshoe pattern is hand-tooled into the leather using traditional leatherworking stamps and swivel knives. Each saguaro cactus, horseshoe, diamond, and star is pressed into the dampened leather by hand, creating a raised relief with dark recessed backgrounds. The scalloped wave border frames the pattern, and the entire design is then burnished and sealed to preserve its depth and contrast. No two tooled patterns are exactly alike.

Antique Brass Hardware

All metal hardware — the buckle, the domed rivets, and the adjustment eyelets — is cast in solid brass and then aged to an antique patina. The brass is deliberately left unpolished, with subtle variations in tone and texture that echo the distressed leather. Over time, the brass will continue to develop a deeper, warmer patina through contact with skin and the elements, matching the leather's own journey from new to lived-in. The hardware is securely set with leather washers to prevent loosening.
